Welcome Eidolon Jurors

The Pearly Gates Archive is a reimagining of early to mid twentieth century vernacular photography.

Source materials were culled from found photographs from my own collection and the permissions free archives of the Library of Congress of the United States, digitally sliced and diced, reimagined (sans AI), reassembled and output to hard copy pigmented ink prints.

If your interest in my work has made it this far, you have my gratitude.

The images that follow are my reactions to the beginnings of the end of an historical epoch, dominated for well over a millennium by the advance of Western civilization. They are the reductive first thoughts of an ordinary citizen of the realm, making journal entries rendered in an absurdist visual language informed by an abiding interest in how vernacular photography impacts the ways we construct, perceive, and act upon prevailing notions of reality.

The “in progress” images presented here are intended to demonstrate my approach to exploring the cultural gap widening between the analog past and the digital present in an emergent age of absolute consequences and uncertain transformation.

Again, many thanks for taking your time to consider my grant application.
